Raku Ichijo is a simple high school student who happens to be the heir to a yakuza family called the Shuei-Gumi. Ten years ago, Raku made a promise to someone... a secret promise with a girl he had met. They promised each other that the next time they would meet again, they would get married. Since then, Raku has never let go of the keepsake the girl had given him and has kept it with him. Until one day, a beautiful girl named Chitoge Kirisaki transfers into Raku's class. They had nothing in common, and their first encounter ended in a fight, but by some strange twist of fate, Raku and Chitoge agree to become fake lovers. Although Raku has feelings for his classmate Kosaki Onodera, he has to pretend to be Chitoge's boyfriend.
